Wednesday WIPs - 29.04.2015

I feel like I have been a little more productive this week. I have worked on most of my projects and even managed to get something finished. Here are the WIPs that I have worked on this week.

Moogly CAL Square #9
I managed to finish this square except for sewing in the ends.

Tablet Carry Bag
I finished one side and started on the other. I decided to change the font on the second side.

Double Knit Butterfly square - side one
Double Knit Butterfly square - side two
I found time to do a few more rows on this.

Shy Butterfly Baby Jacket
I finally managed to start the first sleeve on this one.

Tunisian Spiral Blanket
This morning we needed to go to the pathologist for blood tests so I dragged out my usual waiting room project and managed to get another colour change done.

That's it for my projects, and now for Sue's.

Sue's Tablet Bag
Sue is making good progress on the second side of her bag.

Well, that's all from me for now, be sure to check back on Friday to see what I have finished. In the meantime, check out the links in the sidebar to see what other people have been working on.

Friday FOs - 24.04.2015

This week I have managed to finish just one object, a drink bottle cosy, and here it is.

Drink Bottle Cosy in Port Adelaide colours
I think this is the last in the series of AFL bottle cosies. I had hoped to get a beanie done as well but it didn't get finished.

As usual, check out the links in the sidebar to see what other people have made.

Wednesday WIPs - 22.04.2015

This week has been a bit slow onthe crochet front as I have been concentrating on cross-stitching on my new tablet carry bag. I have worked on a few things and here are the progress photos.

Moogly CAL Square #8
I made a start on the next square for the Moogly CAL but didn't get it finished. I should manage to finish it before the next square is due to be released.

Tablet Carry Bag
One side of the bag is starting to look like it's supposed to.

Tunisian Spiral Blanket
I spent a little time in a waiting room this week so this one came out of the bag. I wasn't in the waiting room for long so didn't get a lot done.

Trauma Teddy
I don't seem to have got much of this one done this week either.

Sue has been working on a few things also and wanted me to show them off.

Tablet Carry Bag
Sue has finished one side of her bag and started on the other.

Sock
Sue's feet have been getting cold as the temperature has been going down with the approach of winter so she decided that she needed some socks.

That's it for me for this week, be sure to check back on Friday to see if I have managed to finish anything. In the meantime, check out the links in the sidebar to see what other people have been working on.

Friday FOs - 17.04.2015

I promised to tell a little story today to tell why I didn't work on as many WIPs as I would have liked, so here goes.

We arrived at my sister's place at about 7 pm on Sunday night and I presented my brother-in-law with his drink bottle cosy. My sister then asked where hers was and when I explained that her husband had asked for one and she hadn't she claimed that she didn't realise how nice it would turn out.

On Monday morning my sister and brother-in-law took my cousin and her husband for a bit of a walk and Sue and I drove into town to do a bit of shopping and then do a bit of exploring. Since Sue doesn't walk far we kept close to the car and drove from place to place. We found a bakery and bought ourselves some lunch and then headed back to the house.

After lunch I settled down to tackle the next drink bottle cosy in the series that I have been working on.

Drink Bottle Cosy in Gold Coast Suns colours
I think I should have made the yellow strips wider, but that's not part of the story. I was almost finished this when the others arrived back and my sister then asked if this one was for her. I said she could have it if she liked but it might be better is she selected more suitable colours.

Once that cosy was finished I pulled all the yarn that I had in my bag out and asked three of them to chose colours for their own drink bottle cosy and then I sat down and proceeded to make three more cosies.

Drink Bottle Cosies for my sister, cousin and cousin's husband
My sister wanted black, orange and white as that is the colour scheme for the Easts Tigers but I didn't have any black. That's OK because she had some black I could use. My cousin wanted hers in Australian team colours (green and gold) as a souvenir of her visit to our country and her husband want blue and white as he is a Sheffield United supporter. It was great to see that my hard work was appreciated as they made use of their cosies immediately.

I kinda surprised myself, being able to make three bottle cosies in just over 4 hours. One of these days I will write out the pattern so that it is easier for me to remember and others may be able to make these.

I still needed to make this week's beanie so yesterday afternoon I got stuck in and did it.

Beanie in Navy Blue and White (Geelong Cats)
I can't make these beanies as quick as I can the bottle cosies but I can still make one in an afternoon.

It has been quite a busy week this week and, while I haven't done as much as I would have liked, I still managed to get quite a bit done. If you want to see what other people have made this week, just follow the links in the sidebar.

Wednesday WIPs - 15.04.2015

This has been another week where I haven't worked on as many projects as I would have liked. This is partly because I have been concentrating on the Man Bag and partly because of what happened while we were visiting my sister, her husband, my cousin and her husband. I did take some projects with me but ended up doing something else which you will find out about on Friday.

So, after all that has happened, I only worked on two WIPs this week and here they are.

I decided that, since I had finished one knit project, I should start another. I had been intrigued by double knitting and thought I would give it a try.

Double Knit Butterfly Square
If I'm doing this right, on one side a white butterfly will appear on a variegated background while on the other a variegated butterfly will appear on a white background. This first one is looking a little rough and I have already made at least one mistake but I am making progress and it does look like it is working the way it should. I plan on making enough squares to make a blanket but I'm not sure how big that blanket is going to be. I might stop at pram size.

The only other item that I have worked on this week that I haven't finished is the man bag.

Man Bag
I'm not sure that the 's' actually looks like an 's' but that's what it looks like on the pattern I'm using so I guess it will have to do. I could have used a different font but I quite like this one for the most part and I couldn't find that many that were an appropriate height.

Sue has decided that she should show off the progress she has been making on one of her bags so gave it to me this afternoon so that I could get a photo, so here it is..

Sue Second Tablet Carry Bag
I think that the tartan effect looks quite good. Sue seems to think that she hasn't allowed enough mesh for the gusset but she thinks she has a way to fix it. We will see haw that works out when she comes to it.

That's it for the WIPs this week. Be sure to check back on Friday to see what I have finished. In the meantime, check out the links in the sidebar toe see what other people have been making.

Friady FOs - 10.04.2015

Hi everyone and welcome to another post where I show off what I have finished this week.

The first item I finished this week was a drink bottle cosy.

Drink Bottle Cosy in Fremantle Dockers Colours
I still have a few more AFL teams to work through before I start on the NRL teams.

The next item was a beanie.

Beanie in Essendon Bombers Colours
The next thing I finished was one that I have been working on for quite a while, a knitted scarf.

Knitted Scarf.
When I was at my sister's place at Christmas my brother-in-law indicated that he would like a drink bottle cosy for himself but he didn't indicate what colour he would like, and since we're headed back that way this weekend (a cousin is visiting from England so we thought we should take the opportunity to meet up again) I though I should do one for him. I found some variegated blue that I thought would be suitable and got it done.

Brother-in-law's Bottle Cosy
I'm still waiting to hear from the lady at church about these Trauma Teddies and will get around to finishing them when she gives them back to me so I expect to have a bunch of them to show you all at once.

That's it from me for this week. Be sure to check out the links in the sidebar to see what other people have made.

Wednesday WIPs - 08.04.2015

I'm still concentrating on getting drink bottle cosies and beanies in sports colours done but I have managed to work on other things as well. Here are the items that I have worked on this week that are still WIPs.

Moogly CAL Square #7 - Smooth Fox's Amethyst Square
This isn't the square that was actually chosen as #7 for the Moogly CAL but I didn't particularly like the one that was so I chose from one of the alternatives. I quite like the look of this one and it fits better with what I wanted to do with my blanket.

Moogly CAL Squares so far
These are all the squares that I have completed to date in some semblance of the positions that they will be in in the finished blanket. This placement may change as more squares are completed. Some observant people might notice that there are 8 squares here even though we're only up to square 7. I did 2 of square 1 because I wanted 25 squares instead of the 24 that are planned but didn't realise at the time that there were alternative that I could chose from for the extra one that I needed.

Tablet Carry Bag
I have been debating what I should put on the sides of this bag and ended up choosing to include my name. I'm not sure about this font as some of the letters look a little odd but it does look decorative.

Shy Butterfly Baby Jacket
I was a little surprised to see the colours in the sleeves match as I hadn't really tried to start the second sleeve at the same point in the colour repeat. Probably looks better than have mismatched sleeves though so I'm glad it worked out.

Trauma Teddy to be
I still haven't got the makings of the the last 3 Trauma Teddies back from the lady that is adding the sash to them and I haven't heard is she still wants me to give them to her flat. I guess I will keep doing them this way until I here otherwise.

Sue has decided that she was getting a ltiile bored with working in the same colour all the time so she started a second bag, this time in the colours of the Murray of Athol tartan.

Tartan Bag
One of these day Sue will actually get around to finishing one of the many projects that she has started unless I get sick of seeing them around the place and decide to have a go at finishing them myself (not that I don't have enough WIPs to work on at the moment).

Thinking about tartans, it's almost cool enough to think about getting the rug back out and finishing it off.

That's it from me for now. Be sure to check back on Friday to see my finished objects. In the meantime, be sure to check out the links in the sidebar and see what other people have been making.

Friday FOs - 03.04.2015

As I said on Wednesday, my schedule has been thrown a bit this week due to a death in the family. As a result of this, things that I had hoped to get finished are still waiting to be finished. I still haven't finished any Trauma Teddies this week as I'm still waiting to see what the lady that sews tags on them is doing.

I have managed to finish another Drink Bottle Cosy and a beanie so here they are.

Drink Bottle Cosy in Brisbane Lions colours

Beanie in Collingwood Magpies colours
Hope fully this coming week won't be disrupted and I will be able to get some other things finished.

For those that are interested, the links in the sidebar will enable you to see what other people have made this week.

Wednesday WIPs - 01.04.2015

This week I have had my schedule interrupted by a death in the family. As a result, things that I had hoped to get done just didn't get done as we needed to get to Sydney yesterday. That meant getting on a train at 11:25 pm on Monday night, arriving in Sydney at about 7:00 am on Tuesday, spending the day with family and friends and getting another train at 8:30 pm that night, arriving back home at about 4:30 am this morning. It was a long day!

We also have an issue with our garage door which, if I hadn't been so tired this morning when I parked the car, I might have thought a bit more about and wouldn't have effectively locked the car in the garage. Hopefully the guys that fitted the remote control system will be able to help tomorrow.

In the meantime, here are this week's WIPs.

Tablet Carry Bag
I have made a bit more progress on the carry bag for the tablet that we currently have on lay-by.

Woollen Baby Blanket - motifs from Ellen Gormley's book
I managed to most of the last row of squares. This one will probably hibernate for a few weeks as crochet class is having a break.

Knitted Scarf
Just one more repeat of the pattern and I will be ready to cast off on this one and then start looking to start my next knit project.

Tunisian Spiral Blanket
While I was on the train back from Sydney I had a bit of time to sort out the yarn in my bag and do a bit more on this before lights out.

That's it from me for this week. I hope you all have had a better week than me. Check back on Friday to see what I have completed since last Friday. As usual, there are links in the sidebar you can use to see what other people are making.

Richard.
