Holiday Diary - Day 38

Today we drove to Llanberis to catch a train to the top of Mt Snowdon, where it said that on a clear day you can see five kingdoms, England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland and Heaven, but that's on a clear day and it was far from clear. After Mt Snowdon we checked out Llyn Padarn before driving to Caernarfon to check out the castle there and ended the day with a cruise on Menai Strait.

We took a total of 161 photos. Here are some of them.

The view across the carpark

The starting point for the train ride

The view from the front of the train (the engine is behind us)

The first stop

The centre gears complicate the points

We passed 4 or 5 diesel locos

This is where we stopped to take on more water

The view from the top

Looking down on the disc at the top that tells us what we would see if we could

The steam engine that pushed us up the hill and dragged us back down again

One of the statues I found when I went to the bank,
but I didn't take note of who it was

This is David Lloyd George

Mt Snowdon from Menai Strait

They even opened the bridge for us
I plan on uploading all the photos we take on this trip in their original resolution sometime after we get back to Australia so you will get a chance to see all the photos that I haven't included on the blog.

Tomorrow we're off to Oswestry for one night. I'm not sure what we will find on the way.

Richard.
